Meet Jenny Moon (She/Her)
Hey There!
I’m so glad you’re here. Are you feeling uncertain about starting therapy? I completely get it, therapy can feel intimidating. It takes just one brave step to bring about the transformative change you've longed for. The burden of daily stress and overwhelming worries can disrupt your sense of normalcy and the inner-calm you deserve.
Together, we can guide you towards finding peace and restoration back into your life by cultivating compassion and understanding for your painful life experiences. As an anxiety and trauma specialist, I have successfully worked with high-achieving and accomplished professionals grappling with perfectionism, stress and work/life balance.
Healing and becoming more whole is possible, even when you're tired and burned out. Therapy is an intentional process of working through life’s challenges, linking to past traumas, developing healthier boundaries and nurturing the meaningful relationships with yourself and others.
As an Asian American and Korean American therapist based in Los Angeles, my mission is to provide culturally sensitive care for the person of color experience, address generational trauma, unlock unmet needs, discover purpose and find balance in life. It’s common to feel lost in your thoughts and tied down to responsibilities for others -whether a partner/spouse, work, family, church or even your children. Sometimes this causes disconnection with self and overwhelming mental health challenges.
We believe that hardship must be overcome in isolation, however with time we learn that we can't do it alone and the journey is shared.
I specialize in working with adults exploring issues including:
Intergenerational Trauma, Family of Origin Attachment Wounds and Conflict
Asian American Culture, Filial Piety, Identity Processing
High performers, Leaders and Influential Figures in the public eye

Training and background:
My practice is dedicated to working closely with individuals who grew up in relational trauma and dysfunction while holding respect and sensitivity around your cultural identity. I am a trained Brainspotting clinician for trauma healing, certified as a diplomate in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy to empower you to transform unhelpful thoughts and beliefs into healthier, more realistic perspectives. I use mindfulness-based interventions with an attachment-focused approach to develop safe coping skills and successfully manage distressing experiences. I am certified in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for depression and postpartum mood changes through the IPT Institute and trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through Harbor UCLA Medical Center.
Incorporating the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, I support you in connecting with your inner-child and exploring the various parts that make up your genuine and whole self. With compassion, you will gradually develop a renewed and nurturing relationship with yourself, fostering growth and profound positive change.
Other clinical certifications include Seeking Safety, 65-hour Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault training, and Motivational Interviewing. Im here to help you uncover your authentic self, learn to cope, set limits and walk towards a life that's worth living.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development and Family Life Education and earned my Master of Social Work degree focusing on mental health with adults. Earlier in my career I worked as a preschool teacher and a Family Advocate at an Asian American domestic violence/sexual assault women’s shelter. I’ve spent 6 years as a therapist and Psychiatric Social Worker at the Los Angeles County Dept. of Mental Health before my transition to private practice. I am also a supervisor and mentor for associate therapists.
In my personal time, I enjoy going to concerts, musicals, daily walks, flower arranging, exploring nature and often embracing imperfection as a pathway to growth and self-acceptance.

Clinical Specialities
Evidenced-based, therapeutic modalities are implemented into sessions to address mental health symptoms and improve life stressors.
Brainspotting: is an effective and focused treatment method that works towards identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, difficult emotions, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms . Brainspotting allows for a treatment that is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused on containing to release trauma that is stored in the body through mindful processing and the therapist/client attunement with use of the ‘brainspot’.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): is a goal-oriented psychotherapy treatment that takes a hands-on, practical approach to problem-solving. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind an individual's difficulties, which in turn changes the way they feel. CBT guides you to shift harmful/overwhelming thought patterns and unrealistic beliefs into more realistic and balanced perspectives.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT): is a common treatment option for people experiencing depression, anxiety, social phobia, postpartum depression, and trauma. Part of the recovery process is to build meaningful relationships and identify a network of support. Areas addressed over the course of treatment can include; role disputes, interpersonal/relational problems, communication barriers, life stage transitions, grief, and other attachment issues.
Mindfulness: is the psychological process of bringing one's attention to the present moment, which can be developed through the practice of meditation and other trainings. Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the now. When you're mindful, you carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad. Whenever you bring awareness to what you're directly experiencing via your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you're being mindful.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW#77266) with extensive experience working in the field of mental health.
